Admissions
Admission to School and Nursery
St Mary’s is an Anglican School and the religious education it provides is in conformity with the rites, practices and doctrines of the Church of England. Parents should be aware that in this School, RE, collective worship and our whole ethos are based on the teachings of the Church of England. As a result, the withdrawal of pupils from formal education and/or worship would not isolate them from the Christian teaching, which the school provides. The school seeks to reach out to the whole community and therefore offers places to those of faith and non-faith backgrounds. St. Mary's School is the admission authority for places in main school and nursery.
Admission into Nursery
Children are admitted into the Nursery in the academic year in which they attain their 4th birthday. The School maintains an Enquiry Register and parents are invited to register their child’s information with the school. Information Packs, which include a copy of the Nursery Admissions Policy and Nursery Application Form, are sent out in the academic year prior to admission. At that time Parents are also given the opportunity to visit the Nursery. During the Spring term the Governing Body meet to rank the list of applicants in accordance with the over subscription criteria in the Nursery Admissions Policy. Offers of a Nursery place are made by the School. Admission to the Nursery does not mean automatic admission to the School which involves a separate application process (see Admission to Reception class).
